USA Unix System Administrator, work from home


Setup and administer software and systems for all Peak Web Hosting managed services and internal systems. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up and maintaining Internet servers (web, mail, dns, database, etc.) in a production environment spread over several data centers in multiple cities.

As part of a 24x7 on-call rotation this position will be customer facing and cover a great deal of troubleshooting and technical interaction while multitasking incoming requests. The ability to relay complex technical information on a professional level is primary qualification for this position.

The candidate must have a good working knowledge of Unix/Linux and be comfortable working in a shell environment. Must also have a good grasp of hardware and software concepts and be able to troubleshoot problems effectively. Must have a basic understanding of general system security issues, load balancers, firewalls, and networking. Familiarity with the following tools is a recommended: Nagios, Munin and SNMP. Above all, the candidate must be eager to learn and be open-minded to new technologies and skill sets. .

Position Location and Reporting:
This is a full time position and is primarily remote ( work from home ) in the Central Timezone. The candidate must be comfortable working in a remote environment and as part of a remote team. This a national position ( US only ) and the candidate will report to the Director of Operations.
