Summary:
We are looking for an experienced UNIX system administrator with Python skills to remotely oversee our real-time platform and applications running over 15+ servers in our Seattle colo data centre.
Job Description:
You will have a free hand to create the frameworks and processes need to manage and monitor our real-time platform. Our server environment is Red Hat Linux, Python, MySQL, Cassandra, Xapian and ActiveMQ. We're processing 100s of millions of transactions per day and storing over 100TB of database in various forms. Experience with low-latency, high-volume, high-availablity applications is therefore extremely valuable, as is a broad grounding in network troubleshooting.
Flexible hours - OK to work from home 2 days a week.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Proven ability to tune and troubleshot high throughput data-based applications on UNIX platforms
• Experience creating a highly available, secure, and safely managed production environment, but without processes "getting in the way".
• Solid database and SQL skills - MySQL a plus
• An understanding of and an interest in programming in general and Python in particular.
• Interest in social media
