Play-Well TEKnologies (http://www.play-well.org) an engineering educational outreach organization that introduces children, Kindergarten to 5th grade, to engineering, architecture and physics, is expanding in the Dallas area and is looking for Lego Engineering Instructors.
We are looking for a Lego Engineering Instructor that can bring their experience and interests to ensure our classes are more than just play-time with LEGO, but also an enriching experience of quality education. Our instructors experience range from former engineers to non-profit administrators, from Jet Engine Mechanics to school teachers. This is a great opportunity to gain fruitful teaching and management experience while having fun doing it.

POSITION:
LEGO ENGINEERING INSTRUCTOR
* Teach concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture; along with facilitating children's exploration of machines and structures using LEGO materials.
* 25 - 40 hours/week during the summer. Potential to grow into a full time manager position.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
* 2 Years of experience working with school-age children
* Must have a flexible schedule and be available to from 1 PM - 5 PM during the school year and full time during the summer
* Must have your own vehicle to transport Play-Well teaching kit
* You should be bright, inquisitive, and fun loving
* Dependable, prompt, and ability to be flexible
* You must truly enjoy working with children and be able to maintain discipline while directing their design/building experience
* A thorough understanding of basic scientific and engineering principles and a love of tinkering and problem solving
* Pursuing or obtained B.S. in engineering and/or teaching-related field (Open to undergrad and graduate students)
* Secure place to store Play-Well teaching kit
* Ability to lift 50 lb kits on a regular basis
HOURS:
Full-time assignment during the Summer 2011, 35 hours a week, based on performance and availability of camps.
LOCATION:
We are looking for an instructor living in and or around the Dallas area.
COMPENSATION:
* $15.00/Hour Training Rate
* $17.00 - $20.00/Hour Instructor Rate (Based on experience)
For 1.5-hour class, instructors are paid for 3 hours.
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Play-Well TEKnologies provides project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering to grades Kindergarten through 5th, utilizing Lego? and other building systems. We have been teaching classes in After-School Enrichment Programs, Summer Camps, Weekend Workshops, and Home Schools at school sites and Parks & Recreation Centers throughout the Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego, Connecticut, Colorado, Seattle, New York, Phoenix, Chicago. Our organization is not affiliated with the LEGO GROUP.
At Play-Well TEKnologies we strive to build problem-solving skills, provide an opportunity for creative expression, foster a greater appreciation of how things work, and encourage the qualities of inquisitiveness, self- reliance, and self-confidence in children. We do this in the context of fun-filled engineering and architectural projects, activities that both the children and our instructors enjoy!
