NY Technical support job, some opportunity to work from home

Worldwide technical support engineer for a small, growing company.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on and loves to solve challenging technical problems.


You will provide technical support for our customers by assisting them in installing and configuring out enterprise monitoring software; diagnosing problems and providing solutions.

Requests will come via email or ticketing system, by phone, or in face-to-face meetings with our clients. There may be some opportunity to work from home. Covering the ight shift periodically (from home) is necessary.

Other duties include:
- Light scripting for integration with customer systems
- Managing and improving the on-line knowledge base
- Creating supplemental documentation, configuration examples
- Creating and improving training materials
- Contributing to the product roadmap

Skills and experience requirements:
- Minimum one year technical support and client service experience
- Must be a self-starter, self-motivated independent worker
- Must be high energy, cheerful, courteous, disciplined, and patient
- Need excellent hands-on Linux/Solaris skills, including shell scripting
- Need excellent diagnostic & troubleshooting
- Need excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to write technical documents
- Have a BS or equivalent work experience
- Have minimum two or more of the following:
- one year or more of Unix admin experience
- one year or more of network admin experience; or CCNA
- one year or more of experience writing perl scripts
- one year or more of development experience in c++, java, ruby
- Working from home requires a computer and a high-speed internet connection
