The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), a post-secondary
performing arts college with campuses in Los Angeles and New York City,
is accepting resumes for part-time teaching positions in Musical
Theatre. The position is based in Los Angeles.
AMDA is specifically seeking instructors with experience teaching
courses in any/all styles of Musical Theatre including: Light Opera,
Contemporary, and Pop/Rock. AMDA is also seeking instructors with
expertise teaching Musical Theatre History. Applicants should specify
their use of any film clips and/or texts associated with their
curriculum.
Ideal candidate should possess a strong commitment to excellence in
teaching, honed from personal performing experience on a professional
level and pedagogy of teaching at a college level.
Performance Credentials:
- The American Musical and Dramatic Academy differentiates itself from
other performing arts colleges by having students learn from “working
faculty.” Applicants must have performance experience within the
industry; preference will be given to those with recent / current
performance credits.
- Experience with a variety of styles, and periods, is a plus.
Teaching Credentials:
- College-level teaching plus a willingness to learn
curriculum-specific material, is required.
- Applicants will have experience in providing and maintaining a
professional rehearsal and performance atmosphere within the classroom.
- Successful applicants will have demonstrated an ability to work
effectively with diverse populations and varying proficiency levels.
- Applicants will be able to communicate with students in a positive
and effective manner.
Academic Credentials:
- BFA in Musical Theatre (minimum) / Master’s degree or higher
(preferred) / or comparable educational or professional experience.
