The Racing Post Group operates a number of daily and weekly print publications as well as a number of successful websites focused on the horseracing and sports betting industries. The business was bought out in 2007 from Trinity Mirror Group by Dublin-based private equity group FL Partners. The owners have invested significant resources in ensuring Racing Post is a leading digital publisher. As well as a number of websites (RACINGPOST.com includes a successful paywall section), Racing Post has launched several leading mobile apps and has introduced many innovative digital products to the market place.

Social media is a key aspect of Racing Post’s ambitious digital strategy and extra resource is required to ensure our objectives are met. An exciting new position has arisen in the Editorial department on a nine month fixed term contract, to oversee the creation, management and development of Racing Post and associated companies’ online communities and social media presence.

The Social Networker will lead, co-ordinate and train editorial teams in best practice for social media/online community writing. Alongside this, you will also be required to create engaging, thought-provoking and proactive content to engage web users to regularly read, contribute to and inhabit our various community areas.

Working closely with the product development team you will also play a key part in the planning and development of social media tools for use on the company’s websites. You will also need to work closely with the marketing team to create influential commercial messages.   

The successful candidate will also have outstanding knowledge of the social media marketplace and possibly already have their own website, blog or Twitter presence. Alongside this, you will also have strong, proven writing skills and will ideally be from a journalism background. A passion for sports is key to this role, particularly horseracing.

You should be highly motivated and thrive on working in a fast-paced environment. You will be required to build strong relationships with both internal and external clients and will enjoy keeping up to date with the latest social media trends.
