Houston voice analyst job, FT contract work , 1 year contract.

KEYS TO THE JOB:
· VoIP and background technologies.
· Avaya PBX
· Should be able to perform routine troubleshooting tasks (figuring out why users cant dial long distance, for instance) and also complicated tasks (using "sniffers" and protocol analyzers)

Summary of Requirement:
This person needs a broad and technical understanding of data networking, with a good knowledge of voice systems and experience in Avaya S8XX PBXs and Modular Messaging systems.

Responsibilities:
· Interfaces with IBM/AT&T subject matter experts to resolve data network and voice system issues
· Attends CAB meetings to review and approve network changes for HGGLBOPS
· Participates in operationally focused meetings with IBM/AT&T and other service providers to review service issues
· Coordinates with vendors and network service providers in the installation and ongoing support of network equipment and carrier services
· Participates in the RCA process, and provides SME input for voice system RCAs
· Monitors Prognosis alerts for Avaya PBXs globally, and works with IBM/AT&T to further develop Prognosis alerting and reporting
· Manages the Call Data Recorder system for PBXs globally
· Creates and maintains Service Improvement Plans, in conjunction with IBM/AT&T for in scope voice system issues


Skills and Knowledge:
· Good knowledge of network protocols, hardware, software and services
· Expert knowledge of voice systems and carrier services
· Good awareness of security issues, and knowledge of security related hardware and software
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Good vendor management skills, especially in the area of problem management and escalation
· Proficient in the use of Sniffer or other protocol analyzers
· Broad range of networking and telecommunications experience is required, including from among the following:
o Voice Systems, including Avaya PBXs and Modular Messaging systems
o Carrier services including PRI, BRI, CO trunks, IP trunks, SIP
o IP networking and protocols, including RIP, OSPF, DNS and DHCP, QOS
o LAN switching technologies, with either Avaya (Nortel) or Juniper equipment
o WAN technologies, MPLS, DSL, Satellite, Metro Ethernet, Internet VPN
o Other networking technologies -- WLAN (Aruba), Load Balancers (Radware, Citrix), Firewalls (Juniper)
· Strong customer focus and ability to manage customer expectations
· Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
· Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of people in a cross functional and multi vendor outsourced environment
