We are hiring bloggers to write for the Intuit Small Business Blog (http://blog.intuit.com) about the following small business-related topics:

* Social media marketing (column): How small businesses can successfully attract and retain customers using social media marketing. Example stories might include how to effectively monitor social media, setting realistic goals, how to measure results, dealing with upset online customers, top mistakes to avoid, pros and cons of social discount promotions, or discussing how to apply lessons from visible campaigns. (weekly)

* Human resources: What are some proven solutions to the challenges and opportunities of attracting and retaining employees for a small business. Example stories might include managing incentives, appropriate interview questions, creating a harassment policy, etc. (2-4 times per month)

* Local businesses (potentially a column): How are local businesses individually and collectively presenting their unique benefits to achieve success vs. larger competitors. Example stories might include serving a specific niche, competing against larger rivals effectively, promoting or revitalizing communities of businesses, or giving back to local causes. (2-4 times per month)

* Small business tax issues: IRS rulings, tax savings tips, deductions, and so on. We need an expert in small business taxation who can dissect these issues for our readers (seasonal, with heaviest work Dec-April)

Work would be ongoing and writers are desired immediately. We are looking to build a relationship with a several key contributors, so please apply only if you have the time to make a long-term commitment to write for us for at least the next few months.

Familiarity with WordPress is a huge plus.

Stories should run about 300 words, but we have the flexibility to publish longer or shorter stories as the topic demands. We want posts to be fun and easy to read, not stuffy and dry. You must have a good ear for language, but you should also be cognizant of online publishing realities and can use key search engine keywords in your posts and headlines without sounding robotic.
Please check out the stories currently on the blog for a sense of what we're looking for. If you think you can follow or lead, we want to hear from you!

Pay is $100 per post.

Please send your resume, a letter of interest, and - critically - samples of relevant work in the small business space.
