Hartford part-time proofreader job, proofreader wanted

This position provides ongoing support to the in-house Creative Services Department: project managers, graphic designers and copywriters. The proofreader will be responsible for ensuring that all assignments and projects are completed with attention to detail and in a timely manner. Key objective for this position is to improve consistency of the pieces and keeping up with the proper routing of work going through the department. Key to success in reviewing the pieces, will be to partner with the project managers and designers. This position must be on-site and will not consider work from home.

Position Responsibilities and Essential Duties: (other duties may be assigned) Review files both in print and on-screen for accuracy and consistency and identify and correct mistakes, spelling, incorrect information, or other content discrepancies from original in a high pressure, high volume work environment.
- Correct for style, formatting, and typographical errors.
- Fact check and Mark up files with errors.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of projects and work with style guidelines, adding to them and updating as needed.
- Learn routing process for projects through department and help others to follow procedures.

Education/Experience: Candidates must complete and pass a Proofreading Skill Assessment to be considered for this position.
- Knowledge of English spelling and grammatical rules.
- Knowledge of graphic design and page layout.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Writing and copyediting skills and experience a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, and in person.
- Familiar with brand style guidelines and working on marketing and communications guidelines
- Ability to look at situations with a new approach and provide solutions
- Strong time management and prioritizing skills with the flexibility to recalibrate quickly according to changing requirements.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and juggle multiple priorities.
