Materials Planner

Due to continued success, Roush is undergoing an exciting period of growth across many domains. We have an immediate need for a Materials Planner in Plymouth, MI.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans the amount of materials or parts needed for production
  • Creates and provides forecasts, releases, or production requirements for internal production builds and for outside suppliers
  • Creates material control plans to create production schedules based on sales forecasts, perform supplier release forecasting and follow-up, and on-going part maintenance
  • Coordinates with the manufacturing department to ensure customer requirements are completed on time
  • Coordinates ordering activities with Materials Manager to ensure adequate warehouse space and manpower
  • Ensures accuracy of raw material inventory. Performs cycle counts and updates records when necessary.
  • Documents the overall material needs, supplier contacts and interfaces with purchasing to request purchase orders
  • Interfaces with Purchasing to look for material costs savings, forwards suggestions for continuous improvements to Materials Manager
  • Assists Materials Manager in notifying Purchasing/suppliers of non-conforming material and assists in requesting return shipments
  • Assists Materials Manager in monitoring supplier delivery performance and notifying Purchasing of late, early or inaccurate deliveries
  • Other responsibilities as they become available
Requirements:
  • Minimum four years' previous materials planning experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience with an ERP system
  • Must have MS Office experience and be computer literate
  • Must have experience scheduling internal production and external material vendors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferred college diploma with Materials Management or Supply Chain Management major
  • APICS certification is a plus
