Chicago web development, graphic design paid internship, working from home

AWS is an online ecommerce based company based in Chicago, IL. We are looking for talented individuals for paid web development and graphic design internships.

Position is located in the West Loop, with working from home becoming an option if desired.

Were looking for a special individual that possesses both graphic design and technical abilities. We want to build a number of great ecommerce oriented websites individually focusing on a differing intended audience (consumer vs. commercial, etc). Our ideal candidate deeply understands html and css and would have some working experience with programming backend scripts and javascript. We're going to be using some ecommerce storefront technology that does the 'heavy lifting', but you will need to be comfortable setting up the layouts, the css, the price catalog, the seo definitions, etc. Your graphic designs will be used as the page layouts on our public sites so they need to be top notch.

Are you someone that?

Demonstrates artistic skills: shows a good eye for layout, type, and color. Integrates supplied and/or stock photos and illustrations with text. Organizes fairly complex and chaotic source materials into simpler, integrated, coherent web pages. Has an understanding of readability issues in typography. Montages photos attractively; decides when to use various effects.

Displays creativity: uses his or her talent to create unique and practical design elements that are also effective from a marketing standpoint.

Knowledge of HTML and CSS ability to slice final composition into graphic files and build the HTML template and CSS style sheet for a web site.

Working knowledge of web standards and CSS-driven layouts.

An understanding of cross-browser and platform compatibility issues.

Requires excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and self motivation.

Knowledge of Word Press is a plus.
