Chicago developer job, PT Web Development Paid Intern (Northbrook)

pticsPlanet, Inc. is seeking a web development intern to join our team. You will work closely with designers and software engineers to implement sophisticated user interfaces for web applications.

If successful, the internship may lead to an opportunity to transition into a full-time Web Development position at the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with user interface designers, graphics designers, and software engineers to implement sophisticated user interfaces using XHTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSONP
• Write standards compliant XHTML and CSS
• Build reusable, well-abstracted, efficient and SEO-friendly front end components and systems
• Develop and extend OO JS libraries
• Develop prototypes and templates for various web applications
• Identify and resolve browser compatibility issues
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Test new and existing web applications
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Good knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSONP
• Some experience building user interfaces for web applications is preferred
• Extremely detail oriented with a passion of delivering high performance code and pixel perfect implementations
• Understanding of modern communication media, social networking, and search engine marketing
• Understanding of server side scripting and PHP is preferred
• An online portfolio featuring interactive UI samples is a plus
• Experience with Adobe Dreamweaver and SVN
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• A habit of thorough testing and retesting of own work
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Ability to keep up to date with related technologies
• Ability to handle the pressure and fluidity of a fast paced environment
• Ability to multitask, juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to present and "sell" your solutions
